Meet Dr. Jean Guevarra You
Dr. Jean Guevarra You is a native of Northern New Jersey and graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey. She then completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, one of the top dental schools in the nation and among dental schools worldwide. She devoted much of her spare time as a pre-doctorate towards helping underserved women and children through her work with professional non-profit organizations.
Following her dental education, Dr. Jean continued her training in the specialty of Pediatric Dentistry at the prestigious Columbia University – New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. At Columbia University, Dr. Jean received extensive training in working with children of diverse backgrounds including those with complex medical conditions and special needs in the outpatient, emergency and operating room settings. In her post-doctorate career, she has furthered her knowledge and expertise in diagnosing and treating tethered oral tissues by taking advanced continuing education courses, receiving certification, and attending nationwide symposiums geared towards laser treatment of lip and tongue ties.
Dr. Jean is part of a small group of specialty trained pediatric practitioners who underwent the rigorous process of becoming Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. These additional requirements include passing a complex written qualifying examination as well as an in-person oral clinical examination. Pediatric dentists who have become board-certified have demonstrated an advanced clinical and scientific mastery of pediatric dentistry.
When given the opportunity, she enjoys combining her love for travel and dentistry by volunteering for dental mission trips to help treat disadvantaged populations around the world. Dr. Jean has participated in outreaches in Buffalo, Tennessee, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines. Dr. Jean strives to make every dental experience positive, fun and educational for children and parents alike. She hopes to help children and families establish a dental home to attain smiles they can maintain for a lifetime.
She is certified in both Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (P.A.L.S.). Dr. Jean stays current in the field through active membership in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Association. Prior to making her way to Apex, Dr. Jean treated children in private practice for years in both Connecticut and then in Massachusetts. Needless to say, she and her family are thrilled to be able to call the research triangle home! Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jean enjoys traveling and trying new and exotic foods. She and her husband, Dr. Geoffrey You, also enjoy spending quality time with their sons, Greyson and Jett, and their dog, Mochi. She cannot wait to meet you and your family at their next visit!

Meet Dr. Cyelee Kulkarni
Dr. Cyelee Kulkarni grew up in the leafy backdrop of Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania (Let’s Go State!). She attended dental school at the University of Pennsylvania, a top tier dental school in the United States, and completed her residency at the prestigious Harvard University’s Brigham and Women’s hospital. Her work there kindled her interest in the care of medically complex patients which led her to fellowship in Dental Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the nation’s best hospitals in several specialty areas. There she discovered her love for working with children, which inspired her to further her knowledge in pediatric dentistry and obtain her certification at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.
Upon graduation, Dr. Cyelee became the director of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania where she taught pre-doctoral students at the dental school and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. After four years as faculty at UPenn, she moved back to New York to be closer to her husband where she enjoyed being part of a private practice and caring for children in the community. Once she had her first born, a baby boy, Dr. Cyelee decided to take a step back from the demanding schedule of private practice and became the site director at Montefiore Medical Center where she taught pediatric dental residents and oversaw the managed care of a very diverse patient population.
Dr. Cyelee and her husband welcomed their second child, a baby girl, several years later, and have recently made the decision to relocate their family to our beautiful state. In her free time, Dr. Cyelee loves to cook and build Legos with her children and husband. She is so excited to start this new chapter and is looking forward to being a part of the Little Tooth Co team!
Dr. Cyelee comes to us with a strong background in academia and plenty of experience both as a specialty clinician and as a mother of two. She is Board Certified, has years of private practice experience and a vast knowledge of pediatric dentistry. Most importantly, Dr. Cyelee is approachable, has a gentle calming demeanor and believes in working hand-in-hand with parents to achieve optimal dental health for their kids. She values putting the patient first and becoming an integral part of the community. Her compassion and dedication to her profession compliment our practice’s guiding philosophy to provide a nurturing dental home for children of all ages. We hope that you will help us welcome Dr. Cyelee and allow her to the opportunity to win over the hearts of your little ones!

First Visit
with LittleToothco
Dr. Jean, Dr. Cyelee and their team love working with children and are dedicated to great dental experiences.
We, along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommend you bring your child in by his or her first birthday.
During your first visit, you will be introduced to our Pediatric Dental Team, given an office tour and given an opportunity to discuss your child's unique smile and ways to keep it beautiful for years to come.
Depending on the age of your child, he or she will either be given a knee-to-knee examination (where your baby’s head will rest on our doctor’s knee while their body is on your lap) or a regular exam in the doctor’s chair.
We request that you complete our First Visit Forms prior to arriving for your appointment. This helps our office keep your and everyone else’ scheduled visit on time.
Oral hygiene instructions will also be given with suggestions to help your child care for their own teeth. In most cases, we will also clean their teeth on this visit, and provide an evaluation that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.
Please have your First Visit Forms filled out and bring them with you to your appointment.

Scheduling Options
We know that every family has a unique and sometimes demanding schedule.
In order to help you find a time for dental care that works with your family’s schedule, we offer several scheduling options. Give us a call at 919-303-2873 and let us know what will work best for your family!
Family-Block Appointments
Our family-block appointments are great for large families because they let multiple kids be seen on the same day.
You only have to make one trip to our office and everyone can leave with a bright, clean smile.
You shouldn’t have to schedule an appointment for a checkup and another appointment for a cleaning—we do both in one appointment! We can also start some treatments the same day we give our recommendations. So, if your child comes in for a cleaning, and we find that he or she has a cavity, we will do our very best to give you the option of filling the cavity that same day. We want to make scheduling dental care easy!
Same-Day Emergency Appointments
Dental emergencies can be really scary for children. If your child is experiencing any pain, call us immediately at 919-303-2873. We can talk you through the situation and see your child the same day you call us if necessary.
Book an Emergency Appointment
We are very familiar with the phrase, “Accidents happen.”
If your child experiences a dental accident that causes him or her any amount of dental pain, call us immediately.
We can talk you through the situation and help relieve your stress. If needed, we will schedule a same-day emergency appointment. Give our office a call at 919-303-2873.
Children’s Dentistry
What is a Pediatric Dentist?
Pediatric Dentists, like Dr. Jean and Dr. Cyelee, are specialists in treating the unique needs of children. A pediatric dentist has completed years of specialty training beyond dental school and limits their practice to treating infants and children through teenage years, including those with medical complexities or special needs. In our opinion, taking your child to see a pediatric dental specialist is as important as taking them to see a pediatrician.
What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist?
Not all pediatric dentists are board certified. When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Board Certified pediatric dentists, like Dr. Jean and Dr. Cyelee, have successfully completed accredited training and a rigorous voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to deliver the highest quality of patient care.
Specialty Training
Pediatric dentists, like Dr. Jean and Dr. Cyelee, are especially trained in child psychology, behavior modification, child pharmacology and the pediatric airway.
Focus on Prevention
Pediatric dentists focus on prevention and education, for both parent and child. Our doctors explain preventative care, hygiene and treatment in simple and easy-to-understand terms.
Comfortable Environment
Our office is geared towards the comfort of your child. It is our goal to create a fun and safe atmosphere for them to enjoy!
Establishing Your Child’s Dental Home
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

Following completion of her pediatric dentistry specialty training, Dr. Katie moved around the country with her husband, Brian, as he completed his training as an interventional pain management physician. This gave Dr. Katie the opportunity to treat patients and work with different pediatric dentists in the Indianapolis, IN and Atlanta, GA areas, as well as back in Colorado. While in Indiana, Dr. Katie worked as a part-time faculty member at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, teaching dental students to work with pediatric dental patients.
Dr. Katie has been board-certified through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 2012 and stays up-to-date and maintains her board-certification by participating in multiple pediatric-dental specific continuing education courses and classes annually. She is certified in both Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (P.A.L.S.).
Dr. Katie and her husband Brian have two sweet boys who keeps them busy when they’re not at work. They have loved calling North Carolina home and are thrilled with all that NC has to offer!
